ARTIST PROFILE

Rē Siswick

Artist Biography

Rē is a multimedia artist living and working in Gloucester, Massachusetts. She graduated from Millersville University of Pennsylvania in 2000 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts. Alongside a printmaking concentration, Rē also discovered her love of performance art, installation, and photography. She continues to explore and employ a variety of media to convey her creative vision.

Over the years, Rē has held a variety of jobs in the art field. She worked as a manager at a fine art gallery/frame shop, a children's art educator, and an interior design consultant. Most recently, Rē worked as the Programs Manager for the non-profit Ocean Alliance and was the Assistant Gallery Director at North Shore Arts Association, both located in Gloucester, MA.

Rē is focused on independently and collaboratively creating work that provides viewers with a unique, visceral experience. She refers to her current work as “Collective Elements”, in which she fuses her love of science with that of the etheric.  Through this lens she explores themes of microbiology, the cosmos, dreams, and coded symbols- all intertwined within the rich tapestry of the human experience.

Rē’s artwork has been exhibited in Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, and Maine and has been acquired by scientific and medical organizations as well as numerous individual patrons. You can find Rē working full time out of her studio space at Cripple Cove Studios in East Gloucester.

Artist Statement

To me, life is an enchanting and divine arrangement of Collective Elements: a synthesis of the seen and the unseen, the concrete and the etheric. I find inspiration at the cross section of these elements. My content derives from the natural world, my dreams & the liminal space between, and my interactions and connections with others.  It is with a collaborative spirit that I seek to collect experiences, find ways to express them, and share them through a multitude of artistic media.
